Vine St Urbana, Illinois 61802 Phone: 217-337-7704 Tell a Friend Click here for website Click here for Map and Directions The Corkscrew in Urbana is an independently owned and family run wine store with an focus on personal, one-on-one customer service.  The Corkscrew was founded in Springfield in 1994, expanded and opened a second location in Downtown Urbana in the fall of 1999.  Focusing on small production wines, spirits, and beer from over a dozen countries, we specialize in helping the customer find the right beverage for what each unique situation calls for.   With a dedicated and extremely knowledgeable staff, we are able to help in all capacities--from gift purchasing to food pairing--and take great pride in helping our customers.  Personal attention and focus are never overlooked and we love working with customers who are completely new to wine to the most advanced and knowledgeable.  All customers are treated equally, no matter the wine knowledge. Another thing that sets the Corkscrew apart from other stores is that all products are tasted by our staff prior to them arriving for sale at the store.  This ensures not only that our selections are top notch, but also allows the staff to appreciate, explain and fully understand the products that are available for purchase. The store also features wine tasting two nights a week, the hours are as follows: Friday, 5-7 p.m. Saturday, 2-6 p.m. In addition to our tasting we often do off-site special events with other local businesses to help build and support other local restaurants and develop relationships with them.  The Corkscrew has held charity events for the charities such as the Champaign-Urbana Theater Group, Crisis Nursery, AMASONG, Artists Against Aids, among others.   Our next big endeavor is a Gala where the proceeds will go directly to Crisis Nursery.  The evening will feature 200 wines as well as food from local caterer Chef Benjamin.  The event is to be held at the Refinery on John.
